50+ Group

 

The 50 plus group is held every Monday from 1.00pm till 3.00pm. This busy
two-hour group spend their time playing bowls, bingo and dominoes to name but a few. They have regular
outings to local events and trips further afield
.

 


 

 

Women's Group 

  

This group runs on Wednesdays at 12.30pm - 2.00pm . It is a small, informal friendly and relaxed group, who enjoy cooking and baking, arts and crafts, massage sessions and general chit chat.

 


 

Salsa Class

 

Salsa runs in the centre on Wednesday evenings from 7.00pm-9.00pm.

 

The class allows for beginners  and intermediate levels of ability.  New members are always welcome although minimum age is sixteen.

 

 


 
 

Computer Group

 

This Group runs on Thursday

mornings from 10.00am-12.00pm.

This is a friendly, easy to learn class

 in which members should feel relaxed and eager to learn the basic skills in computing.

       

 


 

Complimentary Therapies

 

Shiatsu Massage is offered in the centre on Tuesday mornings with one hour long sessions starting from 10.00am-1.00pm.

The deep relaxation induced by Shiatsu effectively alleviates stress related symptoms and conditions including insomnia, headaches, backache, joint pain, etc.

  

 


 

Fruit & Veg Co-op

 

The stall runs on a Thursday morning from 10.00am-1.00pm selling affordable fresh fruit and veg including seasonal organic and local produce. There is also a fish van which stops off at the centre from 12.00pm-1.00pm where you can buy delicious fresh fish and seafood.

 

 

 


 

Parent & Toddlers

 

Gilmerton Child & Family Centre run this group on a Tuesday morning from 9.30am-11.30am at Burdiehouse & Southhouse Community Centre.  

This is a great group for allowing 

parents the opportunity to meet up and chat over coffee while offering a safe environment for children under 3 to  

enjoy a variety of play experiences in 

 a group setting.

 


 

P1-P3 Club 

 

This club runs on Friday afternoons from 1.30pm-3.00pm, with a group of kids ranging from 5 to 8 year olds.There is a weekly programme which includes   

art work, computers, hall games, baking, bingo, and outside activities (weather permitting). 

 


 

P4-P7 Club 

 

P4-P7s runs on a Monday evening from 6.30pm-8.00pm. It is one of the busiest clubs in the centre and has a varied weekly programme consisting of sports based activities, art, pool, computers, baking, and outside games if weather allows.

 


 

Girl's Club

 

This club runs on a Tuesday night  

from 7.00pm-8.30pm and was initially 

 set up to encourage p7-s3 girls to use  

the centre. The girls enjoy various activities like movie nights, dancing, make up and crafts.

 

 

 


 

 

 

Senior Youth Club

 

The Senior club runs on a Thursday 

night from 7.00pm-8.30pm. The aim of the club is to provide a fun, safe and secure environment where we meet the young peoples educational, emotional and development needs. The programme consists of team building exercises, cooking skills, trips, arts and crafts, computing and games.


 

Rainbow Guides 

 

The Rainbows run on a Tuesday evening from 6.00pm-7.00pm. The girls are aged 5-7years old and all follow the Rainbow Jigsaw Theme which leads them into making their Rainbow Promise. There are currently 13 Rainbows and 2  

pre-warrant leaders..
